The dissolution of the Basilian Orthodox monastery in Zawalow was conducted in April and May 1793, however the decision about its liquidation had been already made in 1787. This establishment belonged to a Galician province of the Order of Saint Basil the Great. Apart from St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, the monastery and utility buildings, the possession consisted of more than 25 ha of land, forests and meadows. These real properties, since located on the Zawalow town outskirts, were not intended for public use, but handed over to private individuals by way of an auction. The equipment of the orthodox church and the monastery was also auctioned. Financial means collected in this way aided the Religious Fund. Liturgical items were given to a Greek Catholic parish in Zawalow, while the library collections ended up in the University Library in Lviv. The course of dissolutive process of the Zwalow monastery did not differ from the cassation processes of other Basilian monasteries of Galicia
