McNair Scholar   From Fear to Anxiety: An Examination of the Meaning of Fear The purpose of this research is to study how the meaning of fear interacts with one's perception of anxiety. In addition, this study will examine what people generally associate with fear. To perform this study, undergraduate participants were recruited from different majors to take a survey. The questions were designed to test their current fear and emotional state. The results were compared to determine if there were significant variations. Differences in gender, ethnicity, and mood were expected. The results of these differences will determine the meaning of the word fear and how individual perception of fear has changed.
