This study evaluates the changes in land use/land cover in Hue City from 2012 to 2022 by creating three land use/land cover maps for the years 2012, 2017, and 2022 using the Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC) method with Landsat 7, 8, and 9 images including five types of land cover: bare land, transportation, water, agricultural, and built-up areas. The Kappa coefficient of the maps, which exceeds 0.9, indicates a reliable level of confidence; however, there are still errors present in the interpretation of Landsat images with a resolution of 30 30m. The results of the study indicate that the expansion of urban space has significantly increased the agricultural land cover, as well as the area of built-up and transportation land, which rose dramatically from 3,902.38 hectares to 7,473.70 hectares. The research shows that after the expansion of the Hue City, the area with the highest building density has tended to develop towards the East-Southeast, due to the incorporation of densely built districts such as Thuan An Ward and Phu Dương Commune. The study has revealed significant fluctuations in land use cover in Hue city during the period from 2012 to 2022, contributing to the understanding of urban development trends and changes in land use structure following the administrative boundary expansion.Nghiên cứu nhằm xác định biến động lớp phủ sử dụng đất tại thành phố Huế trong giai đoạn 2012-2022 thông qua việc xây dựng bản đồ lớp phủ sử dụng đất cho các năm 2012, 2017, 2022 bằng phương pháp Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC) với nguồn ảnh Landsat 7, 8 và 9, gồm năm loại lớp phủ: đất trống, giao thông, mặt nước, thực vật và xây dựng. Hệ số Kappa của các bản đồ đạt trên 0,9 đều ở mức tin tưởng được tuy nhiên vẫn còn tồn tại sai số trong quá trình giải đoán ảnh Landsat với độ phân giải 30x30m. Kết quả của nghiên cứu cho thấy, việc mở rộng không gian đô thị đã làm tăng mạnh cơ cấu lớp phủ nông nghiệp và lớp phủ xây dựng, giao thông tăng mạnh diện tích từ 3.902,38 ha lên 7.473,70 ha. Nghiên cứu chỉ ra rằng, sau khi thành phố Huế mở rộng, khu vực có mật độ xây dựng cao nhất có xu hướng phát triển về phía Đông - Đông Nam do sáp nhập các xã, phường có mật độ xây dựng lớn như phường Thuận An và xã Phú Dương. Nghiên cứu đã chỉ ra sự biến động rõ rệt trong lớp phủ sử dụng đất tại thành phố Huế trong giai đoạn 2012-2022, góp phần làm rõ xu hướng phát triển đô thị và những thay đổi trong cơ cấu sử dụng đất sau khi mở rộng địa giới hành chính
