Renewable Energy: Ideas for Developing Countries

Abstract

The concept "energy" has always been one of the strategic concepts. Its increasing dominance in economics has resulted in important outcomes in both national and international politics. The security of energy supply and the sustainable use of energy sources have become two main problems that have to be solved along with environmental concerns like climate change and socio- economic concerns like sustainable development. The idea of Renewable Energy (RE) has become a crucial factor in the current energy debates. The paper will examine RE policies of the European Union (EU) and Turkey. Although the EU is a pioneer in RE efforts, it has also policy implementation problems because of its multi-national structure. Turkey can acquire some benefits from the EU policies and practices for improving its energy structure and future policies.
