Thrtyeight trotter mares from a stud of the province of Bologna were monthly surveyed (June 1990 - May 1991) by quali-quantitative coprological examination for gastro-intestinal strongyles. Twentythree animals were treated with ivermectin at foaling. In the course of the study only larvae of intestinal strongyles were identified.
