Este proyecto de investigación se centra en realizar un análisis profundo de las regiones cafeteras de Colombia utilizando herramientas y datos geográficos. A través de una base de datos espacial robusta, se busca caracterizar de manera precisa las condiciones ambientales, geológicas y climáticas de cada región cafetera. Al combinar esta información con estudios de la variabilidad genética de las plantas de café, se pretende identificar patrones espaciales en la distribución de las diferentes variedades y su relación con las condiciones ambientales.
Esto permitirá generar mapas de alta precisión que delimiten las zonas más aptas para el cultivo de café, considerando factores como altitud, pendiente, tipo de suelo y clima. Los resultados de este estudio serán de gran utilidad para optimizar la producción, desarrollar nuevas variedades adaptadas a cada región y diseñar estrategias de manejo más sostenibles, contribuyendo así al fortalecimiento del sector cafetero colombiano.This research project focuses on conducting an in-depth analysis of the coffee regions of Colombia using geographic tools and data. Through a robust spatial database, we seek to accurately characterize the environmental, geological and climatic conditions of each coffee-growing region. By combining this information with studies of the genetic variability of coffee plants, the aim is to identify spatial patterns in the distribution of different varieties and their relationship with environmental conditions. This will allow the generation of high-precision maps that delimit the most suitable areas for coffee cultivation, considering factors such as altitude, slope, type of soil and climate. The results of this study will be very useful to optimize production, develop new varieties adapted to each region and design more sustainable management strategies, thus contributing to the strengthening of the Colombian coffee sector
