Thank you for your comprehension. TITLE:  Microplastic exposure at pelagic fishes and holothurians: a Mediterranean case study  AUTHOR: Deudero S, Nadal MA, Estarellas F, Alomar C. (centro Oceanografico de Baleares, Instituto Español de Oceanografia)  TEXT: Marine biota is highly exposed to increasing amounts of microplastics. Gut contents analyses of medium pelagic fishes, Boops boops, have revealed ingestion of microplastics fibers; up to 70% of the fishes. Additionally, data on sedimentivorous holothurians fecal pellets and plastic has been incorporated. Different areas under a gradient of anthropogenic impact (from highly touristic urbanised areas to marine protected areas) have been assessed. Consequences of plastic ingestion to marine fauna, altogether with trophic transfer throughout the food web are analysed.
