Abstract

Polish and Other Slavic Dictionaries of Writers’ LanguagesIn the introductory remarks, the author reflects on the role of writers in shaping languageand culture, as well as on the development of both non-Slavic and Polish theories concerningwriters’ language dictionaries. The chief concern of the article is an overview of 22 significantPolish and Slavic writers’ language dictionaries, with a special emphasis on the notablecontributions of Polish and Russian lexicography. Polish dictionaries, in particular, are recognizedfor their exemplary scholarly quality.
