Boughrara lagoon : annual hydrobiological parameters monitoring.

Abstract

Following this ecological crisis, the evolution of hydrological parameters was studied during the year 1993. The monitoring of these parameters shows that Boughrara lagoon is affected by chronic eutrophication, which generate dystrophic crisis, in particular during july, august and September, where phytoplanktonic blooms are frequent. The results obtained shows also that the monitored lagoon is submitted to a high level of organic pollution. The principal source of this pollution are the outfalls of intensive aquaculture projects implanted in Boughrara lagoon and on its coast.phisation chronique tres prononcee et qu'elle est exposee a des crises dystrophiques tres aigues pendant les moins de Juillet Aout et Septembre, periode ou les efflorescences phytoplanctoniques sont frequentes et donnent lieu a des phenomenes d'eaux colorees. Nos resultats ont, egalement, permis de deceler un niveau eleve de pollution organique, du essentiellement a l'exploitation de la lagune a des fins d'aquaculture intensive et a la degradation de la biomasse phytoplanctonique et alguale, particulierement abondante durant les periodes de forte chaleurMassive mortalities of fishes were observed in Boughrara lagoon(Tunisia) during summer 1991.
