Abstract

Necrotizing fasciitis is a rare and progressive bacterial infection that can affect any part of the body. The objective of this work is to describe the therapeutic management and evolution of a case of necrotizing fasciitis due to Staphylococcus aureus, as well as the importance of early diagnosis. A 56-year-old female patient came to the emergency room with a wound on her leg that did not improve with local treatment, accompanied by fever and inability to walk. Multiple surgical interventions were performed until the patient recovered. Current studies show that the etiological agents are different from those that were frequently present a few years ago. Necrotizing fasciitis is a disease that puts the patient's life at risk. Timely diagnosis and early and aggressive surgical intervention ensure good results.La fascitis necrosante o necrotizante es una infección bacteriana, poco común y progresiva, que puede afectar cualquier parte del cuerpo. El objetivo de este trabajo es describir el manejo terapéutico y la evolución de un caso de fascitis necrotizante por Estafilococos aureus, así como la importancia del diagnóstico temprano. Paciente de 56 años, femenina, que acude al servicio de emergencias por presentar una herida en la pierna, que no mejora con tratamiento local, acompañada de fiebre e imposibilidad para caminar. Se realizan múltiples intervenciones quirúrgicas hasta la recuperación de la paciente. Los estudios actuales demuestran que los agentes etiológicos son diferentes a los que se presentaban con frecuencia pocos años atrás. La fascitis necrotizante es una enfermedad que pone en riesgo la vida del paciente. El diagnóstico oportuno e intervención quirúrgica precoz y agresiva, aseguran buenos resultados
