OBJECTIVE: To establish the benefits of a removable partial prosthesis in patients undergoing resective jaw surgery. METHODS: A search was made within the scientific bases: Scielo, Pubmed, Google Academic, Contemporary Clinical Dentristy, Journal section: Oral Surgery, using articles published in the last 5 years, articles in English and Spanish were included with a total of 49 articles of which 30 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the present investigation. RESULTS: Of the 30 articles analyzed, 26 correspond to clinical cases and 4 to scientific articles. CONCLUSIONS: Oral rehabilitation with removable partial prosthesis for the reconstruction of maxillary defects in patients submitted to resective surgery, allows an improved function and a superior quality of life in patients adequately treated, providing a restoration of functional occlusion and leading to reintegration into society.

MÉTODOS: Se realizó una búsqueda dentro de las bases científicas: Scielo, Pubmed, Google Académico, Contemporary Clinical Dentristy, Journal section: Oral Surgery, usando artículos publicados en los último 5 años, se incluyeron artículos en idioma inglés y español con un total de 49 artículos de los cuales 30 fueron seleccionados de acuerdo a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión para la presente investigación. RESULTADOS: De los 30 artículos analizados 26 corresponden a casos clínicos y 4 artículos científicos. CONCLUSIÓNES: La rehabilitación oral con prótesis parcial removible para la reconstrucción de defectos maxilares en pacientes sometidos a cirugías resectivas, permite una función mejorada y una calidad de vida superior en pacientes tratados adecuadamente, otorgando un restablecimiento de la oclusión funcional y conduciendo a la reintegración en la sociedad.
