Celem artykułu jest analiza "Balladyny" Juliusza Słowackiego z punktu widzenia teorii kryminologicznych, stanowiąca próbę odkrycia genezy zbrodni tej bohaterki. Służyć temu będzie charakterystyka jej czynów oraz zestawienie ich z wybranymi propozycjami wyjaśnienia przestępczości kobiet o podłożu biologicznym i socjologicznym. Będą to, poza oceną realizmu postaci literackiej, także rozważania nad etiologią działalności kryminalnej płci, rzadziej utożsamianej z tego rodzaju aktywnością.The aim of this paper is to analyze the main character of Słowacki’s play "Balladyna", considering criminology theories, as an attempt to discover the origin of her crimes. In order to find out, I am going to characterize her actions and put them into comparison with biological and sociological theories explaining criminality among women. Not only the purpose is to rate the realism of the story but also to ponder about the ethology of crimes committed by gender not traditionally associated with such violence
