W artykule przedstawiono najważniejsze założenia wirtualnej mobilności, jej komponenty i cechy charakterystyczne. Ewaluacji poddano podstawy teoretyczne oraz metodologiczne, jak i preorientacji wirtualnej mobilności w kontekście zarządzania informacją naukową w przestrzeni szkolnictwa wyższego. Analizie poddano działania podejmowane w zakresie implementowania wirtualnej mobilności do przestrzeni szkolnictwa wyższego na podstawie wybranych inicjatyw, stanowiące przyczynek do wdrożenia nowej formy uczenia się i nauczania, jak i wyniki analizy programów kształcenia w zakresie zarządzania informacją w wyselekcjonowanych uczelniach wyższych realizujących studia w obszarze informatologii i bibliologii. Sprawdzono możliwości zaimplementowania wirtualnej mobilności do działań podejmowanych w procesie kształcenia na poziomie wyższym, również w kontekście procesów zarządzania informacją.The article gives the most important assumptions of the phenomenon of virtual mobility, its components and characteristics. The evaluation has been theoretical and methodological as well as vocational guidance for virtual mobility in the context of the information management in higher education area. Activities were analysed in terms of implementation of virtual mobility to higher education on the basis of the selected initiatives, constituting a contribution to the implementation of new forms of learning and teaching, as well as the results of the training programmes in the field of information management in selected universities pursuing studies in the area of information science and bibliology. The possibilities to implement virtual mobility actions undertaken in the process of training at a higher level were verified, also in the context of information management processes
