L’histoire de l’écologie : un champ de recherche en extension (The history of ecology: a field of research in expansion)

Abstract

Le champ de recherche en histoire de l’écologie a donc commencé à se développer dans les années 1960-70, au moment même ou l’écologie fait l’objet d’une nouvelle forme de demande sociale, dans les démocraties occidentales. Le grand public découvre alors un terme inventé un siècle plus tôt pour désigner une science qui naît à la fin du XIXe siècle. C’est d’abord aux origines de cette science que les historiens se sont intéressés. De nouveaux territoires s’ouvrent désormais aux historiens de l’écologie qui croisent différentes approches. The research field of history of ecology has begun to grow during the 1960-70’s. At the same time, a new form of social and ecological demand gained ground in western democracies. People discovered a term invented one century before to characterize a science born at the end at the 19’s century. Historians first draw attention to the origins of this science.
