Immunodiagnosis of invasive Aspergillus and Candida infections in patients with haematological malignancies

Abstract

W pracy przedstawiono aktualne metody wykrywania wysoce immunogennych składników ściany komórkowej grzybów – antygenów: galaktomannanowego i mannanowego oraz przeciwciał anty-mannanowych w surowicy pacjentów. W oparciu o bieżące piśmiennictwo oceniono przydatność wykrywania wymienionych markerów na wczesnym etapie fungemii oraz podano możliwe przyczyny reakcji fałszywie dodatnich i ujemnych.This review discusses the currently available methods, which allow detection of highly immunogenic components of fungal cell wall: galactomannan and mannan antigens, as well as anti-mannan antibodies in the patients sera. On the basis of current literature the usefulness of these antigens during the early stage of fungemia, and possible reasons of false-positive and false-negative reactions are evaluated
