Les recommandations terminologiques en français dans le domaine de l’environnement

Abstract

The preservation of the environment is a key factor for the sustainable development of mankind. The goal of this paper is to present and analyze the terminological recommendations of the Official Gazette of the Republic of France (Journal officiel de la République française) as presented through the French terminological database FranceTerme where one can find the latest proposed neologisms to replace terms that are entering the French language from other languages. On the other hand, starting from the recommendations in France, we will make a parallel with those of the Grand dictionnaire terminologique from Canada, which also proposes the use of their own Canadian variant. In this way, we will present the terminological variants of the French language in both countries as well as the translations of English lexical loan words in this field. By doing so, we will attempt to show the lexical wealth of the French language, the influence of English over French as well as the institutional terminological interventions in the field of the environment
