The work considers the Francisco Coelho Municipal Museum, located in the city of Marabá - Pará. In which, based on a theoretical and interpretative analysis, I propose an investigation into the construction of the “origin” narrative (Santos, 2000) of the city of Marabá, and, its relationship with the social imaginary of Maraba (Baczko, 1985). Therefore, for the interpretation of museum narratives, I start from the understanding of the museum as a discursive field (Chagas, 2009), therefore, open to readings. Therefore, for the development of the research, visits were made to the museum, supported by the theoretical-methodological apparatus that combined the elements of interpretative anthropology (Geertz, 2013) and visual anthropology (Achutti, 2004; Novaes, 2005; Leal, 2013; Gama, 2016), with which I create an imagetic narrative, starting from the perspective of an ethnographic work composed in addition to writing. Thus, corroborating the identification of selections on the representation of the formation of the city of Marabá, identifying which characters and/or objects are “visibilized” and “invisibilized” in this imaginary?O trabalho pondera sobre o Museu Municipal Francisco Coelho, localizado na cidade de Marabá - Pará. Em que a partir de uma análise teórica e interpretativa proponho uma investigação sobre a construção da narrativa de “origem” (Santos, 2000) da cidade de Marabá, e, a sua relação com o imaginário social marabaense (Baczko, 1985). Logo, para a interpretação das narrativas museais, parto da compreensão do museu como um campo discursivo (Chagas, 2009), portanto, aberto a leituras. Com isso, para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, foram realizadas visitações ao museu, sustentadas no aparato teórico-metodológico que combinaram os elementos da antropologia interpretativa (Geertz, 2013) e antropologia visual (Achutti, 2004; Novaes, 2005; Leal, 2013; Gama, 2016), com os quais, realizo uma narrativa imagética, partindo da perspectiva de um fazer etnográfico composto além da escrita. Corroborando assim, para a identificação das seleções sobre a representação da formação da cidade de Marabá, identificando quais personagens e/ou objetos são “visibilizados” e “invisibilizados” neste imaginário
