Purpose - The purpose of this research is to find out what methods are used at the Muhammad Saman Diski Modern Islamic Boarding School and what methods are most effective in improving speaking skill students.
Design/methodology/approach - This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach which aims to present information in a structured and accurate manner without involving calculations, actual facts,
or characteristics of certain populations. The data collection process is carried out by researchers
through observation, interviews and documentation.
Findings/results - The strategy used by teachers at the Muhammad Saman Modern Islamic Boarding
School is the direct method. The application of direct methods to improve students speaking skill at the
Muhammad Saman modern Islamic boarding school.
Originality/value - The benefits of this research show that choosing the correct and appropriate strategy in learning Arabic has a big impact on students.
