Multi-proxy analysesrevealed that the principal paleolimnological change in the lakes were transition from marine to lacustrine environments.They were caused by relative sea level changes brought about by ongoing retreat of glaciers and ongoing crustal upliftingduring the mid-Holocene Hypsithermal（4.0-2.0 ka) of Antarctica, and ongoing isostatic uplift which outpaced changes inglobal (eustatic) sea level. Sedimentation rate and uprifting rate of Lake Maruwanminami-ike were calculated to be 0.35mm/y and 5.2 mm/y, respectively. Those of Oyako-ike were estimated to be 0.57 mm/y and 2.0 mm/y, respectively. Marineperiod was characterized by the low biological production with diatoms. Chemocline was developed in the transition periodwith the occurrence of green sulfur bacteria. High biological production with the predominance of green algae andcyanobacteria were obserbed in the lacustrine period.南極昭和基地地域の露岩地帯には，南極の中期完新世の温暖期(the mid-Holocene Hypsithermal, MHH, 4.0-2.0 ka）に氷河の後退による大きな環境変動が認められる．東南極宗谷海岸の丸湾南池および親子池の堆積物コア下部には海成層が見られ，沿岸海から淡水湖への変化の過程が観察されている．本研究では，丸湾南池および親子池の堆積物コアを用い，元素の濃度測定，バイオマーカー（光合成色素・カロチノイド・炭化水素・脂肪酸・ステロール）の分析，藻類・シアノバクテリアの観察と同定，放射性炭素 14C 法による年代測定を行い，完新世における宗谷海岸湖沼の古陸水学的解析を行った．丸湾南池（MwS4C-01，コア長 147 cm）および親子池（Ok4C-01，コア長 135 cm）では，MHH に氷河の後退による宗谷海岸の隆起により，沿岸海から成層した塩湖を経て淡水湖に変遷したことが示された．MwS4C-01 堆積物コアの堆積速度および隆起速度は，それぞれ 0.39 mm/y および 4.1 mm/y であった．MwS4C-01 堆積物コアの沿岸海（147-68cm, ca.4,890-2,400 cal BP）では，珪藻主体で生物生産量が小さいことが特徴であった．また，珪藻のバイオマーカーである 24-メチルコレステロールが卓越していた．化学成層した塩湖（68 cm, 2,450 cal BP）の段階では緑色イオウ細菌の色素である chlorobactene の顕著なピークがみられた．淡水層（68-0 cm, ca.2,450 cal BP-modern）では，緑藻類の Cosmarium clepsydora やシアノバクテリアの Leptolyngbya spp. や Nostoc sp.による高い生物生産量が特徴となっている．色素はこれらの生物のバイオマーカーである lutein, fucoxanthin およびcis-diatoxanthin が多くみられた．また，淡水層では長鎖脂肪酸（n-C20－n-C32）および 24-ethylcholesterol が卓越し，顕著な真菌類の寄与が示唆された．なお，有機炭素濃度が低い氷河性堆積物が沿岸海で 2 回，淡水湖で 4 回みられた．これらは氷河下から突発的に流入すると考えられる．堆積物コアの表層が低 TOC 濃度で古い年代（1,150cal BP）を示すのは，氷河から離れた表層の藻類の年代がモダーンであることから，デッドカーボンによるものではなく，氷河堆積物由来であると考えられる．Ok4C-01 堆積物コアの堆積速度および隆起速度は，それぞれ 0.69 mm/y および 2.0 mm/y であった．沿岸海時期（135-65 cm, 2,170-1,160 cal BP）では丸湾南池と同様に，珪藻主体で生物生産量が小さかった．全無機炭素濃度が著しく高い 130-100 cm 深度は，貝殻の寄与によると考えられる．化学成層した塩湖では緑色イオウ細菌（chlorobactene）および Cryptophyta (cis-alloxantin)が主な光合成生物であったと考えられる．淡水湖（65-0 cm,ca.1,160-220 cal BP）では，緑藻類の Cosmarium clepsydra と Oedegonium spp.およびシアノバクテリアLeptolyngbya spp．が主体で，珪藻が含まれ高い生物生産量であった．興味深いことに，これらの生物は 56.4 cm(1,040 cal BP) とかなり深い堆積層でも形態が保存され観察することができた．
