Abstract

Aunque la práctica matrimonial común en la época clásica era la ἐγγύη, en la obra de Heródoto aparece otra forma de llevar a cabo el matrimonio: el matrimonio por certamen. Ambas prácticas coexisten en Heródoto, si bien tienen sus propias particularidades.Though the ordinary marriage practise in the classical period is the ἐγγύη, the work of Herodotus shows other way of marrying: the marriage by competition.
