Seizures can be due to a variety of acute, subacute, or chronic diseases with different etiologies. Clinically, they may manifest as focal or generalized phenomena. Whereas the majority of the patients suffering from partial seizures are easily controlled with medications, in a small number of patients treatment may fail. The failure may be due to incorrect diagnosis or incorrect therapy.
