His legs are casually crossed and he is resting his hands in his lap.Jovan Cvijić (1865, Loznica – 1927, Belgrade) was the pioneer geographer of Serbia. He was President of the Serbian Royal Academy of Sciences and Rector of the University of Belgrade. In the course of more than 30 years of intense scientific research, Cvijić published many significant works. One of the most important ones is "La péninsule balkanique". The photograph was a gift to Division General Milivoj J. Nikolajević (1861, Belgrade – ?) and his wife Sojka. Nikolajević was Court Marshal under the Obrenović dynasty, Chief Executive of the Geographical Department of the Serbian Army's General Staff. It is kept in Nikolajević's collection
