" '. -~~~ ., • ADMISSION RESIDENCY THE CENTER FOR HIGHER EDUCATION COURSES MICROCOMPUTER COURSEWORK PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS MODULE CONTENTS Admission to any of the three programs is dependent on the applicant being employed in higher education; in adult education at the post-secondary leYcL; or in vocational, technical, and occupational education. Admissiorf to the master's degree program and to the certificate program is open to those holding a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institutioo_ Admission to the educational specialist degree program is restricted to those who hold a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Residency on campus is not a requirement. Classes are offered at locations near the students so that they may slay on their jobs and use their positions for the immediate application of theories and skills learned through the courses. For the certificate and the master's degree program courses are offered in an independenr study format. The educational speCialist degree courses are offered at sites throughout the countI]' and, when appropriate, will be taken with students working toward an Ed.D. degree in one of the same specialization areas. It is taught in modules of 6 or 9 semester hours. These modules are offered at 12 sites in Florida: Bradenton, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale. Fon ~Iyers, Ft. Pierce, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. When appropriate, courses may be taken "ith srudents enrolled in other advanced degree programs. Additional sites in Arizona. California, Colorado, Florida, Mississippi, Missouri,l\ew Mexico, ;o.;orth Carolina, Utah, and Wisconsin will be established on demand. lbere are four modules that must be completed for both the educational specialist and the master's degrees. CHE Modules I, n, and 1II are the same for both degrees. The certificate program requires the student to complete CHE Module I and part of CHE Module 1II and CHE Module IV In addition. a (). semester-hour Practicu~ must be completed for both the educational specialist degree and the master's degree. A practicum is an instirutional research project undertaken by students [0 apply the theory of microcomputers to education. Module rv, Applied Research and Evaluation Curriculum and Program Planning Learning Theory and Applications OR one of the following specialization courses: --;-Higher Education: "The Emergence of Higher Education in America" or "The Politics, LaW; and Economics of Higher Education" Adult Education: "History, Philosophy and Nature of Adult Education" or "Theory and Practice of Adult Education Methodology" vro Education "The Emergence ofVfO Education in America" or "Personnel" The educational specialist and master's degree programs are approximately sixteen months in duration. The cost of services for students continuing beyond this time is S 1 00 for each four month . The order in which modules are takcn will differ with the term in which the student enters the program. Below are the possible sequences depending the student's entry into the master's degree program. Differences for the educarionaJ specialist degree program and the certificate program are noted. A. Master of Science Degree: Student Beginning in July: CHE Module I CHE Module II CHE Module III CHE M.S. Module rv Practicum July September January March July Student Beginning in September: CHE Module I September, CHE Module III January CHE Module II March CHE M.s. Module rv July Practicum September Student Beginning in March: CHE Module I CHE Module II CHE M.S. Module rv (CHE 510, CHE 520) CHE Module III and CHE M.S. Module rv March July September (CHE 530) January Practicum March B. Educational Specialist Degree: Students enrolled in this program will follow the same sequence as the master'S degree students except for the placement of CHE Ed.S Module rv. Students will take the courses in this module as they are offered at the sites in their area. C, Certificate Program: Students enroUed in this program may enroU for the 2 required CHE M.S. Module N courses at any time in their program. They must take CHE Module I before taking the CHE Module III. The CHE Module III course will be offered only in the term that begins in]anuary. A maximum of six semester hours may be transferred and applied to either the master's degree or the educational specialist degree program. For the master's degree, these credits may have been earned in microcomputer or education courses. Only credit for microcomputer courses may be transferred and applied to the educational specialist degree program. These transferred credits must be for courses equivalent to courses within the pr:ogram, .earn~d within the last five years, and not t.i~ed for another degree. • CONTINUING SERVICES STUDENT FLOW MODEL TRANSFER CREDITS
