Kayalıpınar relief [Andreas Müller-Karpe's postcard]

Abstract

Andreas Müller-Karpe's postcard to Hatice Gonnet-Bağana, Kayalıpınar. Found in 2005 during the excavations of the Hittite settlement in Kayalıpınar village of Yıldızeli, Sivas, this white limestone block depicts a seated deity with a cone shaped head piece, holding a drinking cup in one hand and a bird in the other. The relief is dated to the 13th century BC. Currently the block is held in Sivas Museum.Printed postcar
