ORIGINS OF UKRAINIAN MENTALITY. Z. BOYKOЦель данного исследования – проанализировать истоки формирования украинской ментальности и
обосновать влияние на нее основополагающих идей украинской философской мысли. = In the present article the sources and the contemporary interpretation of Ukrainian mentality are analyzed
through one of the basic concepts of culturology – the concept “of heart”, which has symbolic meaning in
many cultures of the world, representing the female center of mental and spiritual life of people, that reflected in
a special Ukrainian philosophy – “the philosophy of heart”. Distinguishing the common features of Ukrainian
ethnic mentality the author shares psychological approach and denies any other, especially ideological. Particularly
valuable in our opinion is the problem of cordocentrism in idea of Ukrainian artistic elite, whose artistic
manner appears to be unique in the expression of the mentality of its own people. Thus, the artistic mentality,being free per se and using the specific synthesis of arts, helps with the impartial coverage of this problem
