Abstract
The Warsaw Convocation of Jan
uary 1573 was a watershed moment in the
history of the interregnum following
thedeath of King Zygmunt II August. Prom

the upcoming election, was the General
Confederation, henceforth known as the
Warsaw Confederation, which went down in
history as a monument to Old-Polish reli

written down on paper in January 1573, has

was preserved in its formal registration in
the court books of the Warsaw castle court.
Until recently, scholars wrongly believed
