Abstract
O Rio grande do Norte se destaca no setor mineral brasileiro e a ocorrência do mineral berílio, mais precisamente a água marinha, uma de suas variedades, é uma das gemas mais abundantes do estado e, por sua vez, marca a história do município de Tenente Ananias. Neste trabalho foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográficas e de campo na área mineradora, entrevistas com garimpeiros, mostrando a importância do mineral gema, sendo averiguado, também, os principais métodos de extração e prospecção do mineral usados no garimpo, cujos métodos são determinantes para que seja possível explorar sua potencialidade mineral, de forma eficiente e sustentável, em benefício da sociedade potiguar e em prol de uma inserção mais competitiva do Estado na economia brasileira. É sabido que a exploração do mineral berílio requer a utilização maciça do conhecimento científico e dos depósitos minerais, porém, isto não ocorre no município em estudo onde a extração possui caráter rudimentar e precário. Contudo, a pesar dos empecilhos das pesquisas relacionadas à exploração mineral e desafios, é preciso repensar neste setor mineral, avaliando a inserção do mesmo no contexto regional, bem como cenários e perspectivas estratégicas futuras para o setor. Foi buscando soluções sobre o atual cenário que foram sugeridas algumas medidas para solucioná-las, como o planejamento, usos de equipamentos de segurança e esclarecimentos aos mineradores e garimpeiros acerca da importância das técnicas de exploração e prospecção e que por sua vez ajudará na preservação e conservação da área, possibilitando assim um menor impacto ao meio ambiente. Este estudo visa contribuir com o desenvolvimento e o fornecimento de informações relacionados a ocorrência de minerais dando destaque ao berílio, e à exploração mineral destes no Alto Oeste Potiguar, pois são poucos os estudos realizados nesta área.Rio Grande do Norte stands out in the Brazilian mineral sector and the occurrence of the mineral beryllium, more precisely the marine water (one of the mineral varieties) is one of the most abundant gemstones of the state and, in turn, marks the history of the municipality of Lieutenant Ananias. In this work will be carried out bibliographical and field research in the mining area, interviews with prospectors, showing the importance of the mineral gem, being also investigated the main methods of extraction and prospecting of the mineral used in the mining, since such methods are determinant for it to be mineral potential, in an efficient and sustainable way, to the benefit of the Potiguar society and in favor of a more competitive insertion of the State into the Brazilian economy. It is known that the exploitation of the beryllium mineral requires the massive use of scientific knowledge and mineral deposits, but this does not occur in the municipality under study where extraction is of a rudimentary and precarious nature. However, despite the research impediments related to mineral exploration and challenges, it is necessary to rethink the mineral sector, assessing its insertion in the regional context, as well as future strategic scenarios and perspectives for the sector. It was seeking solutions on the current scenario that some measures were suggested to solve them, such as planning, use of safety equipment and clarification to miners and prospectors about the importance of exploration and prospecting techniques and that in turn would help in the preservation and conservation of the area, thus enabling a lesser impact on the environment. This study aims to contribute to the development and supply of information related to the occurrence of minerals and mineral exploration of these in the Potiguar High West, as few studies have been carried out in this area.54 f
