The TMC Library and the UTHealth McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics, will host the second lecture of the Medical Ethics series Vaccines, Epidemics, and Ethics on Thursday, October 18 at noon at the UT Health School of Public Health Auditorium, located at 1200 Herman Pressler, Houston, TX 77030  Dr. David E. Persse is the Physician Director of Emergency Medical Services at the City of Houston and the Public Health Authority for the Department of Health & Human Services – City of Houston. Dr. Persse will speak about how the City of Houston has prepared to deal with a pandemic and what would happen if there were a virulent disease outbreak.  A light lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and attendees will be eligible to enter a drawing at each event to win a Kindle E-Book reader by completing a short interactive quiz on National Library of Medicine databases such as PubMed. Scopus' "Author Search" lets you see who is citing whom. Use this tool to see your bibliographic connections to other authors, find metrics on your citation rates, and find measures of journal performance. The new search features have been developed in consultation with members of the Cochrane Collaboration; users will see major changes to the layout of search pages and will be able to use a new range of search features such as:  Auto-suggest features within basic and MeSH search functions  Updated display of search results and filtering options  Ability to view search terms and results on the same page  Ability to insert lines and add one search to one another  Improved MeSH look-up feature  Mouse-over Tool Tips giving a brief explanation of the functions All previously saved searches will be transferred onto the new search platform, with no action required on your part. Audio-Digest CME Test Questions The Audio-Digest Foundation provides continuing medical education to physicians and health care providers from over100 educational contributors. Audio-Digest includes recorded clinical lectures presented at professional meetings. CME Test Questions are available online at their website.  To access the questions, enter the username "hamtmc" and the password "library" on the left box Online Services Sign-in. After login in, click on "My Programs".  From that page you may select the Program and Year of your choice.  This will open to a new page with all the available tests for program/year.  Click on your preferred test topic and then click on "Continue to Overview".  This will take you to the "Download/view written summary" link.  This last link directs you to the written summary and 10 questions for pre- and post-testing.   Test forms are available at the Circulation Desk.  Once you complete and sign your test, please mail it directly to Audio-Digest at the address indicated on the form.  This service is free of charge.   Audio-Digest mails out all earned CME certificates once per calendar year, but you may call them at the number on the test form and make an early certificate request.  There is no fee as long as requests do not exceed once per quarter.
