Theseshelves will soon be dismantled,opening that area for more pub-lic seating. Please bear with usas this process will be noisy.Soon, we will have new, com-fortable furniture to place there.You may also notice thatmany of the older books andjournals are being relocated to the HAM-TMC Library’sHistorical Research Center.These items are becoming fragile and require a more stable environment. DynaMeda clinical reference tool withsystematic reviews, Clin-eguidea clinical decision support sys-tem that includes evidence-based guidelines, books anddrug information and RefWorks,a web-based bibliographic man-agement tool are among thenewest database subscriptions.I am also pleased toannounce a new affiliation withthe Methodist Hospital as partof the Library’s expanding out-reach project to provide criticalinformation resources to theTexas Medical Center’s clinicalelcome to allstudents, residents,faculty and staffwho are returning fromvacation or entering asfirst timers! While we stillmaintain a print collection,many of our resources are now available electronically, so it is important to apply for alibrary card and remote access.From the Executive DirectorWynaMed is a clinical reference tool designed foruse primarily at the ‘point-of-care’, providing clinically-organized summaries for nearly 2,000 topics. DynaMedis updated daily and monitorsthe content of over 500 medicaljournals and systematic evi-dence review databases. Eachpublication is reviewed cover-to-cover, and each article isevaluated for clinical relevanceand scientific validity. DynaMedcan also be integrated with theElectronic Medical Record.DynaMed is an EBSCO product.DynaMed is available to the Library’s educational levelusers and to all hospitals physi-cally located within the TMC.Remote Access is available foreducational and institutionallevel members.RefWorks is a web-basedbibliographic management toolthat enables users to organizeand create a personal databaseonline, format bibliographiesand manuscripts, and importreferences from a variety ofdatabases using the alreadycreated Import Filters.RefWorks has incorporated aRSS feed reader so users canestablish links and import datafrom directly.RefWorks is a web-basedtool; authorized users mayaccess the program from any-where at any time. It can alsobe used across multiple plat-forms, including Windows,Mac, Unix, etc.Refworks is available to the Library’s educationallevel users.CINAHL Plus with Full Text is a comprehensivesource for nursing and alliedhealth journals, providing fulltext for more than 560 journalsindexed in CINAHL. This data-base contains full text for manyof the most used journals in theCINAHL index – with noembargo – and provides morethan 600,000 full-text articlesdating back to 1937.CINAHL Plus with FullText is an EBSCO product,available to the Library’s educational level users.To access these resourcesgo to the Library web site(http://resource.library.tmc.edu)and click on databases.Clin-eguide is a clinicaldecision support system thatdistills disease management,drug therapy and laboratoryresults knowledge into a singleresource. Clin-eguide includesevidence-based guidelines,books, Facts & Comparisondrug information, national guide-lines and patient handouts.Clin-eguide also providespatient- and disease-specificrecommendations, taking intoaccount patient status and con-comitant conditions promptsthe clinician to consider issuesthat may influence patient outcome.
