Many of theLibrary’s databases also offer full-textjournals we do not list on our website.Access to many journals is made pos-sible by our participation in multipleconsortia that negotiate contracts for“bundles” of journals at favorableprices. In this way, the Library maxi-mizes its buying power and – as anadded benefit – can offer access tomany journals in addition to the essential health sciences titles. Electronic journals have becomethe preferred method for reading thebiomedical literature over the pastfew years. The HAM-TMC Library has responded by providing access to this growing collection for itsEducational Level users. In addition,the Library is now beginning to can-cel print subscriptions to most ofthese journals. Canceling print savesphysical processing time, frees upshelf space and, in some cases,reduces costs. To use the new system,library users will simply buy a card from vending machinesin the Library for $1 and canthen add value to the card in any amount. The vendingmachines will accept the new$5, $10, and $20 bills. Copierswill continue to accept cash.Library clients can still use theold cards at all the copiers. Whenready, they can switch out thecard(s) at the Circulation Desk.Full credit will be transferred fromthe old card(s) to the new copycard.  Old cards will no longer beusable at the printer stations afterthe new system is installed.
