Abstract

Finance and gambling have more than just superficial commonalities. Various aspects of business possess similar underlying principles and characteristics to certain forms of gambling, especially poker. People exhibit similar psychological patterns of behavior in both settings. These results are significant because investors, as well as gamblers, are drastically and detrimentally affected by the illusion of control. The market cannot be controlled and neither can a deck of cards. Exploring the compatible strategies between gambling and investing has the potential to make business students better equipped investors in the future
