CAUSES OF RETAIL PRICE FIXITY: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Existing empirical studies do not provide a unifying explanation for retail price fixity. However, economic hysteresis, or the persistence of an economic phenomenon after its initial cause has disappeared, offers a general explanation.
