The treatment of acute coronary syndromes in Malta has been revolutionized over the past decade by the introduction of the catheterization laboratory. With the set-up of on-call cardiac invasive teams for primary percutaneous coronary interventions in ST-elevation myocardial infarction, Malta may be counted among the elite cardiac centres.
