Article level metrics - wskaźniki popularności publikacji naukowych

Abstract

The article presents new meters of popularity of scientific publications in the Internet – article level matrics (ALM), which are more and more frequently introduced by publishers and information suppliers. These meters indicate the number of citation of articles in databases (e.g. Web of Science, Scopus), in social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook), programmes used for publications management (e.g Mendeley), blogs. They also count the number of views of the website of the article. New approach towards evaluation of individual scientific publications and rising importance of social services in assessment of science constitute an alternative to the so far used overall assessment of journals and granting them Impact Factor indicator
