Abstract
It is essential to deal with evaluating the cataloging education within librarianship education. The cataloging education was a profession that was applied and learned with the master – apprentice relationship before formal librarianship education began. Cataloging education has been placed regularly within the librarianship education after Melvil Dewey founded the first librarianship school in 1887. Professional advance and the use of information technology in librarianship has effected the cataloging education and lead to changes. Cataloging education in our country, beginning through courses with the Republic, has been applied and developed continuously at the university level since 1950s years in terms of content and form, and the relationship of theoretical basis and practice. In this proceeding, the situation of the cataloging education both in our country and the world will be taken into accounts and placed the expectatons concerning the future
