PENGARUH KOMUNIKASI DENGAN ORANG TUA, TEMAN SEBAYA DAN SOSIALISASI PROGRAM PENUMBUHAN WIRAUSAHA MUDA PERTANIAN (PWMP) TERHADAP SIKAP GENERASI MUDA PADA SEKTOR PERTANIAN
Farmer regeneration is important in intergenerational agriculture transfer efforts.
Agricultural activities are the main pillar of a country, which is a sector that is expected to be
able to meet the food needs of all Indonesian citizens. The low interest of educated young
generation at present in the agricultural sector is the main reason why agriculture is difficult
to advance if it only frustrates an aging workforce that lacks understanding of technological
progress.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of communication with parents,
peers interactions and the socialization of the Program Penumbuhan Wirausaha Muda
Pertanian (PWMP) on the attitudes of young people in the agricultural sector. Type of
research is explanatory research, with data collection techniques using a questionnaire. This
research was conducted in 6 (six) Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian (Polbangtan) in
Indonesia, namely Medan Polbangtan, Bogor Polbangtan, Yogyakarta-Magelang Polbangtan,
Malang Polbangtan, Gowa Polbangtan and Manokwari Polbangtan. The sampling technique
uses Non Probality Sampling by using purposive sampling to determine the number of
samples. Obtained a number of 226 respondents with the criteria of the 2018 generation of
Polbangtan students who come from farm families and get socialization about the PWMP
program. This is a quantitative study with data processing techniques using the help of Smart
PLS (Partal Least Square) version 3.28, analyzed through validity, reliability testing, outer
models that include convergent validity, AVE value, cross validation, and inner models
which include R-square testing and coofecient path.
The results found that communication with parents had a positive but not significant
effect on the attitudes of the younger generation in the agricultural sector, whereas
interactions with peers and the socialization of the PWMP program had a positive and
significant effect on the younger generation in the agricultural sector. Factors that influence
the younger generation to be interested in the agricultural sector should be intensified again
by utilizing technological advances so that the impression of agriculture as a backward work
can slowly erode, and improvement of the agricultural system so that farmers are more
prosperous need to be communicated again between the government, farmers and agricultural
extension workers and stakeholders engaged in the agricultural sector. The communication
system between farmers and the government is also more open so that complaints from the
agricultural sector do not only stop at farmers but can be conveyed well to the government
