INCLUSION OF A CYLINDER INTO AN AXIALLY LOADED INFINITE PLATE WITH A HOLE

Abstract

In this paper, inclusion problem in infinite plates is considered. Firstly, inclusion of a cylin-der of radius d into a plate including a hole of radius ri is studied. The case where the cylinder carries twisting moment is also added to the analysis. Secondly, inclusion problem is solved for an axially loaded rectangular infinite plate having a hole of radius ri. In order to find the interface pressure in this case, two methods are proposed. In the first method, the interface pressure is assumed not to depend on the angle ? while it is assumed in the second method that the pressure also depend upon the angle?. The results reveal that stresses can excessively change in the case of inclusion problem, depending upon the value of interface ?/ri
