The fourth annual Southwest Economic Theory Conference (SWET IV) will be held at UCSD from Friday, March 1, 
2002 through Sunday, March 3, 2002. The plan is to have our first session on Friday afternoon and end Sunday at 
noon. This note is a call for papers and request to mark your calendars. I will provide information about local 
arrangements later. If you would like to present a paper at the conference, please send me an abstract (or, even better, 
a paper). I am especially eager to increase the participation of graduate students in the conference. There will be 
limited support available for graduate students interested in attending the conference. There will be a dinner for 
campus representatives on Friday night. We also plan to organize a dinner on Friday night for graduate students only. 
Let me know about any suitable students who would like to make a presentation. Swet IV is dedicated to Professor 
Walter Heller, who died in March. There will be special sessions in his honor on Saturday afternoon. Joel Sobel
