The instalIation of a plant colIection oftemperate climate fruits in the region of SãoFrancisco Valley, aiming at the adaptation of thesespecies for commercial cultivation in that region hasbeen chalIenging to overcome issues such asclimatic differences and consequently pestmonitoring and controI. The study here describedwas conducted at the Experimental Station(Bebedouro) of Embrapa Semi-Árido and referredto evaluations conducted on apple CEva' and'Condessa' varieties), pear (Ally and 'princesinha'varieties), peach and plum (varieties 'Rubenal','Irati', 'FIa 79-3' and 'FIa 87-7'), between July2008 and March 2010. Sampling of mites wasperformed weekly on 10 plants at random,colIecting 3 leaves per plant (basal, middle andapical of the canopy of the plant). The leaves wereplaced in paper bags and taken to the EntomologyLaboratory of Embrapa Semi-Árido and kept underrefrigeration. Then, the leaves were observed undera 40X stereo-microscope, for arthropod counting.The mites were collected and send to the AcaralogyLaboratory at the Universidade Federal Rural dePernambuco for identification. Mites of the familiesTetranychidae, Tarsonemidade, Phytoseiidae andTydeidae (Proenematinae) were present on all cropsstudied. Tenuipalpidae and Stigmaeidae were notrecorded on plum and peach. The species wereidentified as Tetranychus urticae Koch (apple andpear), Tetranychus sp. (peach and plum),Eutetranychus sp. (peach), Euseius citrifoliusDenmark & Muma (plum variety Rubenal), Euseiusconcordis (Chant) (plum variety Irati) andAmblyseius tamatavensis Blommers (pear varietyAlIy).Tuesday 24, Afternoon, Auditorium - Poster
