La embriogénesis somática es un métodoeficiente para Ia micropropagación de plantas, sinembargo, su proceso incluye distintos faetoresque inducen variación somaclonal, Ia cual es nodeseable para una producción clonal. EI objetivodei presente trabajo fue determinar Ia variacióngenética en plantas de papaya regeneradasmediante embriogénesis somática indireetautilizando Ia técnica de AFLP. Se utilizaron comoexplantes embriones cigóticos de Gariea papayavar. Maradol. También, se utilizaron hojas ymeristemos de papa,ra silvestre (Gariea sp.)adicionando 1.0 mg r de ácido naftalenacético,1.0 mg r1 de cinetina y 1.0 mg r1 de ácidogiberélico para Ia regeneraci6n de plantas porembriogénesis somática. Se utilizaron trescombinaciones de iniciadores: E-ACG + M-CTG,E-ACT + M-CAT, E-ACT+M ..:CAG. Las plantas depapaya silvestres regeneradas a partir dei mismoexplante donador presentaron alta similitud(95%). Por otra parte, cuando se analízaronplantas regeneradas a partir de diferentesexplantes donadores en papaya Maradol estasimilitud fue menor (87%). The aim of this work was todetermine the genetic variation in papaya plantsregenerated through indirect somaticembryogenesis using AFLP techniques. Zygoticembryos of Cariea papaya var. Maradol wereused as explants. Also, Leaves and meristems ofwild papaya (Cariea sp.) were used as explantsadding 1.0 mg 1-1 naphthaleneacetic acid, 1.0 mg1-1 kinetin and 1.0 mg 1-1 gibberellic acid forregeneration of plants by somatic embryogenesis.It was used three combinations of primers: E-ACG + M-CTG, E-ACT + M-CAT, E-ACT + M-CAG. Wild papaya plants regenerated from thesame donor explant showed high similarity (95%).Moreover, plants regenerated from explants fromdifferent donors in papaya Maradol the similaritywas less (87%). Newshoots were collected and disinfested withalcohol 70% immersion for one minute and in 1%sodium hypochlorite solution for ten minutes,followed by triple wash in sterile distilled water.Later, nodal segments of approximately 1.5 cmlong or meristems were isolated, which wereinoculated in MS or WPM medium, containingsucrose at 15, 30, 45 or 60 9 ("'1.When usingnodal segments, the best results were in WPMmedium added of 45 9 r1of sucrose.
