NSF/NBER/CEME Decentralization Conference Spring 2004 Preliminary Announcement and Call for Papers The 
Spring 2004 Decentralization Conference will be hosted by the Fuqua School of Business at Duke, in April 23-25. The 
local organizers are Pino Lopomo, Luca Rigotti and Sasa Pekec. The conference series coordinator is Matt Jackson. 
Detailed and d information is available at the site http://faculty.fuqua.duke.edu/decentralization2004/ In addition to 
traditional topics (including mechanism design and implementation, resource allocation, matching, team theory, 
contracting, organization of the firm, communication, computation, processing of information, ... ) submissions of 
papers related to auctions and market design are encouraged. At least one session of the conference will focus on this 
topic. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2004. The program will be announced by March 1, 2004. While 
Extended abstracts are acceptable, and full papers are encouraged if available. To submit a paper, please email it as a 
pdf attachment to: Decentralization2004@Fuqua.Duke.Edu The conference will be held in the Fuqua building 
complex. Rooms are available at the Millennium hotel (about half a mile away from Fuqua). The hotel''s web site is:

reasonable expenses for the speakers, and possibly partial coverage of graduate students'' expenses. We hope to see
