Interacción entre cobertura arbórea y comportamiento animal durante las épocas seca y húmeda en pasturas del Magdalena Medio Tolimense

Abstract

Evaluar el comportamiento animal bovino en función de los componentes del paisaje permite mejorar los indicadores de productividad con un enfoque sostenible. Este estudio tiene como objetivo relacionar el componente arbóreo y herbáceo con patrones de comportamiento animal en un potrero arbolado de 54 ha del magdalena tolimense. El inventario forestal se realizó mediante el establecimiento de parcelas temporales de muestreo y se estimó la cobertura arbórea con la ayuda de software para SIG. Se encontró que las áreas con una cobertura arbórea ≤ 40% presentaron en promedio mayor disponibilidad de forraje 4,3 t/ha de MS por corte. Para la evaluación del comportamiento animal se instalaron collares con GPS en 6 vacas adultas. La interpretación de los registros de monitoreo con GPS se hizo con software para SIG. Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los recorridos promedio por composición racial entre las dos épocas evaluadas y se observó que las vacas tienen preferencia por sitios de cobertura arbórea entre 0 y 40%.//Abstract. Evaluate bovine animal behavior in terms of landscape components improves productivity indicators with a sustainable approach.
