In view of a power distribution scheme compatible with the requirements of the SLHC environment, we are evaluating the feasibility of on-board inductor-based DC-DC step-down conversion. Such converter should be an integrated circuit and capable of operating in harsh radiation environments and in the high magnetic field of the experiments.
