Use of cable and magnet insulators in a nuclear radiation field

Abstract

The use of commercial insulating materials in the construction of the CERN complex, Geneva, is considered. The results presented were obtained principally by testing in a reactor, but also on the basis of experience acquired with the CERN accelerators, and relate to working temperatures in thr 20-50 degree C range and maximum integrated dosages of 100 megagrays.
