Are You Ready for the American Community Survey?

Abstract

With its first release of 5-year data setsfor small geographic areas in December of 2010,the U.S. Census Bureau reaches an important milestone in the development of its American Community Survey (ACS). Adapting to changes introduced by the ACS framework will require some adjustment by theresearch community, policy-makers,the media, and other data users who have grown accustomed tousingdecennial census data. This report provides a brief overview of the American Community Survey (ACS). A true-false quiz allows readers who are already familiar with the ACS to test their readiness for using the 5-year estimates. The report alsodescribes where to locate ACS data and where to find guidance in using ACS data.American Community Survey
