MARIA@CBS.DTU.DKELIXIR Denmark is one of the nodes of the European ELIXIR infrastructure for biological information, supporting life science research and its translation to medicine, agriculture, bio-industries and society. The Danish life science community has an increasing need for accessing bio-molecular databases, integrating data and using interoperable tools for data analysis and interpretation; To pro-vide high-level support to Danish stake-holders in the fields of biology, biotech-nology and medicine, ELIXIR Denmark Node is developing, in collaboration with other European partners, a com-prehensive ELIXIR Tools and Data Ser-vices Registry, with focus on discovery and integration of databases and tools. The registry – which is made freely available for all to access – facilitates the use of tools for users with and without special competences within the fields of bioinformatics and systems biology.ELIXIR Denmark is established in a partnership between Danish Universi-ties,• Technical University of Denmark,• University of Southern Denmark,• University of Copenhagen,• Aarhus University,and it involves the main academic groups who are contributing to the de-velopment of the fields of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology in Denmark.ELIXIR TOOLS AND DATA SERVICES REGISTRYThe Registry is a gateway to databases and tools for Life Science data analysis, and it provides a comprehensive and up-to-date catalogue of resources that are interactive and downloadable, and that offer programmatic access. Via a user-friendly interface it is possible to use the Registry both to find resources and to register resources. THE EXCELERATE PROJECTOn May 11, 2015, ELIXIR was awarded €19 million from the EU to accelerate the implementation of Europe’s life-sci-ence data infrastructure over the next four years. The project is called ELIX-IR-EXCELERATE, and will contribute to the integration of Europe’s bioinformat-ics resources supporting all sectors of life-science research and development. ELIXIR Denmark represents one of the 17 countries involved in ELIXIR-EXCEL-ERATE. THE FIRST ANNUAL DANISH BIOINFORMATICS CONFERENCEELIXIR Denmark is organising the first Annual Danish Bioinformatics Confer-ence via which the scientific community has the opportunity to form an overview of and get updated about what is hap-pening within the fields of Bioinformat-ics and Systems Biology in Denmark.
