Shygonska  NURSE’S ROLE IN PALLIATIVE AND HOSPICE CARE TO INCURABLE PATIENTS  Introduction. The topicality of the research presented in the paper is determined by different problems of aged people that demand medical, social and spiritual help. Every year more than 180 thousands of patients who have cancer are revealed in Ukraine. Due to the data of national Cancer Institute more than 50% of oncologic patients gradually pass into the incurable phase. As a result, it leads to peoples’ disability for self-service. Results and discussion. Palliative care is the complex approach aimed at providing the maximal qualitative way of the life for people with incurable diseases and their families by means of early diagnostics and in-time treatment as well as psychological and moral support.  Hospice is the state institution for incurable patients that is oriented to ensure palliative (symptomatic) treatment, choose the appropriate analgesic therapy; deliver medical and social care, psychological support of relatives and patients.  Nowadays there are nearly 19 hospices all over Ukraine. One of them is situated in Zhytomyr District, Korosten. According to the administrative order of Ministry of Health Services №409/36 from 14. 05. 2010, the Cabinet of Analgesic Therapy and Off Road medical Service were created in Zhytomyr Regional Oncologic Dispensary. Their aim is to help incurable patients at home. Conclusion. Nurse plays an important role in a qualitative and qualified care. The basis of her professionalism is made by communicative skills – to listen to the patient’s mental and physical problems because communication is one of the main conditions for successful palliative care.
