The main objective of the Gondwana Project of the Remote Sensing
Department of the National Space Research Institut:o (Itlf E), 	 is to study major
geologic and structural components, u sing LANDSAT imagery, of two principal arva,:
The Northeastern part. of Brazi l , including the states of Cua d, Rio Grande do Norte,
ParaTba, i'ernambuco, Alagoas and Sergipe; and thv West Equatorial part of Africa
including Ghana, Togo Benin, Nigeria, Cailleroon. Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
LANDSAT imagery is the main data base for this study, due to the fact
that it is the only availaLle source of information with common geometrical and
