Abstract
As the result of unexpected chemical behavior encountered in a study with the DDT-metabolites 1,1-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethylene (DDNU) and 1,1-dichloro-2,2-bis(p-chlorophenyl)ethylene (DDE), the characterization of these 2 compounds was re-examined and found to be at variance with data found in the chemical literature. DDNU and DDE have now been more fully differentiated and characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, and the principal IR bands of each have been assigned and discussed.</jats:p
