长江口附近海域是我国重要的渔业和养殖基地，同时也是赤潮高发区。硅藻是海洋浮游植物的重要组成类群，同时也是赤潮生物的重要类群。本论文通过对东海赤潮高发区硅藻的生物多样性、种群分布特征和群落演替动态等的研究，为分析东海赤潮成因和赤潮监测等提供基础数据和科学依据。本文于2002年5月-2003年5月，在东海赤潮高发区（范围在122°-123.5°E，29°-32°N）通过五个航次的调查（2002年5月、8月、11月和2003年2月、5月），研究了该海区硅藻的生物多样性、种群分布特征与群落演替动态。结果如下：1.在五个航次的样品中共鉴定出硅藻179个种和变种，隶属于53个属，其中赤潮硅藻有27种。8月...The Changjiang Estuary area is the important area of fishery and breed aquacultures, while there have been high frequency of red tide in this area.
